Our Team
Michelle and Thomas lead our team, supported by our dedicated therapy assistants. Our assistants contribute to resource development, assessment interviews, and program planning, and assist in delivering face-to-face therapy programs and group sessions for participants.
Michelle Pomeroy
Michelle Pomeroy
Michelle Pomeroy is a qualified Developmental Educator and Behaviour Practitioner who works four days a week with DMD Therapeutic & Behavioural Consulting. She also contracts with Jon Martin Psychology, delivering Positive Behaviour Support for individuals living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Michelle provides capacity-building services to individuals with DMD and their support networks, drawing on more than a decade of specialised experience studying and supporting behaviour in people with DMD since 2010. She is deeply committed to strengthening the skills, confidence, and knowledge of both individuals and the teams around them.
Alongside her professional expertise, Michelle brings invaluable lived experience as the mother of a young man with DMD, and has been an active member of the neuromuscular community for the past 18 years.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys escaping the city to camp with her family, connecting with others in the community, and unwinding with a good glass of wine at the end of a long day.

Thomas Shaw
Thomas Shaw
Thomas is a qualified Developmental Educator and Special Education Teacher at DMD Therapeutic & Behavioural Consulting.
Thomas first joined the team as a placement student during the final years of his university studies, later working as a Therapy Assistant before stepping into his current role as a Developmental Educator. This progression has given Thomas a strong, practical foundation in both therapeutic and behavioural support.
Thomas’ work integrates therapeutic and behavioural approaches, with a particular focus on understanding behaviour in individuals with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and how this informs meaningful, individualised supports. He works closely with Michelle Pomeroy to deliver face-to-face capacity building, training, consultation, and tailored resources to strengthen the skills of support teams. He also supports Therapy Assistants in facilitating social groups and community-based programs.
Committed to reflective practice, Thomas actively evaluates and adapts his work to ensure services remain responsive to the needs of individuals with DMD. In addition to his work within the neuromuscular community, he provides Developmental Education services more broadly, although availability in this area is limited.
Outside of work, Thomas enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends, collecting vintage t-shirts, and staying actively involved in the neuromuscular community.
